Squad Restorations, which many players simply call pads, are consumables placed via the Gear Wheel to restore a resource to yourself and nearby allies.

What are pads for?

Squad Restorations, often called pads, are consumables you can place via your Gear Wheel to recover ammo, energy, health, or shields. This is a detail many new players underestimate, when in reality, these consumables can completely change your quality of life. Pads are used to fill an immediate gap. Out of energy to cast your abilities? Energy pad. Running low on ammo? Ammo pad. In content where you're taking heavy damage? Health or shield pad depending on the need. These are comfort consumables, but sometimes survival tools. The further you progress in the game, the more you'll realize they make certain content much smoother, especially when your build isn't perfectly finished or when you're caught by surprise.

The 4 pads to know

- Energy Squad Restoration

- Ammo Squad Restoration

- Health Squad Restoration

- Shield Squad Restoration

Where to get them?

Small squad kits (x1 or x10) can be found in the Ship Market. The boost is slight, but they consume few resources to craft.

Medium squad kits (x1 and x10) are obtained from the Dojo laboratories. They require a few more resources to craft than the small ones, but they are already much more useful in missions. To find them easily: energy and shield are in the Energy Lab, ammo in the Chemistry Lab, and health in the Biology Lab.

Large squad kits (x10) are obtained through Syndicates. You'll need to rank up several if you want all four types, as each syndicate doesn't offer the same ones. They take longer to unlock. It is also possible to get x100 versions in the same place as the medium ones. They require an indecent amount of resources to craft, but their utility is insane. Personally, I abuse them so much that I always have thousands in stock.

How to use them?

Pads are first placed in the Gear Wheel from your Arsenal, then accessed in-mission with the A key. Personally, I really recommend binding keys to use them more easily, because opening the wheel in the middle of combat isn't always the most comfortable option.

To do this, go to Esc > Options > the first tab at the top, Keybinds, then scroll down to the equipment shortcuts section. The first 12 items placed in your consumables wheel correspond directly to the 12 equipment shortcuts. So, if you organize your wheel well, you can deploy your pads almost instantly with a simple shortcut, and it's a real game-changer.

Once placed, they stay on the ground for a while and provide their effect in pulses. The goal isn't necessarily to wait until you're completely empty to place one, but rather to understand when a pad will save you time, increase comfort, or avoid a tedious phase.
